Heating Solutions Beneath the Forth Bridges for South Queensferry Residents

Often yes, but planning consent may be needed if the flue or boiler location is visible from the street or affects a protected part of the building. Tell us your property is listed when you book, and we will plan the work around what the council allows.

If your property has solid walls and original single-glazed windows, a condensing boiler sized correctly for the space, paired with radiators matched to each room, tends to hold heat better than an undersized system. A modern thermostat with zoning can also help even out rooms that heat unevenly.

Properties close to the water can see slightly faster wear on external flues and fittings from salt-laden air and higher humidity. Mention this when booking a service so we can check those components more closely.

It depends on the boiler model, the property size, and whether pipework or the flue route needs changing, especially in listed buildings. We give you an itemised price after seeing the property, before any work starts.

Yes. Compact wall-mounted combis suit many flats and apartments where cupboard space or external wall access is limited. We assess the access route and the fitting space before recommending a model.

We check the burner, heat exchanger, flue, gas controls and safety devices, clean the key components, look for leaks or corrosion, and test that the boiler is running efficiently. You get a written record of what was checked.

Yes, we service boilers of any age. If a boiler is getting on and repairs are becoming frequent, we will tell you honestly whether servicing still makes sense or whether replacement is the better long-term option.

With regular servicing, a well-installed condensing boiler often runs well for a good number of years, though this varies with water quality, usage and how it was installed. A boiler that is regularly serviced tends to show problems earlier, when they are cheaper to fix.

We can talk through payment options with you once you know which model and installation scope you need. Ask us about this when we give you the price.

Turn the boiler off, place a container under the drip if it is safe to do so, and call us on 07449 567506. A small leak can point to a bigger problem developing, so it is worth getting looked at rather than left.
